Terms of service

Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 20 August 2026

Welcome to The Career Library.

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website and your purchase of any digital products or professional services from The Career Library.

Please read these Terms carefully before placing an order. By purchasing a product or service from us, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Nothing in these Terms affects any statutory rights you have as a consumer under applicable UK law.

⸻

1. About Us

The Career Library provides digital career resources and professional career-document writing services, including:

  • Career and employment eBooks;
  • CV writing services;
  • Cover letter writing services;
  • CV and cover letter packages;
  • CV templates and other downloadable resources; and
  • Other career-related digital products and services that may be introduced from time to time.

The website is operated by:

Business name: The Career Library

Legal entity: Career Library Ltd

Registered/business address:

Suite 134

5 Charter House

Lord Montgomery Way

PO1 2SN

Hampshire

Company number: 17400897

Email: careerlibrary@hotmail.com

⸻

2. Eligibility to Purchase

You must be at least 18 years old or otherwise legally capable of entering into a binding contract to place an order with us.

When submitting an order, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate, complete and current.

⸻

3. Our Digital Products

Digital products may include eBooks, guides, templates, checklists and other downloadable career resources.

All descriptions, page counts, images and previews are provided to help customers understand the product before purchasing.

Minor differences in formatting or appearance may occur depending on the device, software or application used to view a digital product.

⸻

4. Digital Product Delivery

Digital products are normally made available electronically following successful payment.

Delivery may take place by:

  • Instant download;
  • Download link;
  • Email;
  • Customer account; or
  • Another electronic delivery method specified at checkout.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that the email address supplied when ordering is correct.

If you experience difficulty accessing a purchased digital product, please contact us and we will make reasonable efforts to restore access.

⸻

5. Digital Content and Cancellation Rights

Our eBooks and other downloadable products constitute digital content.

Where you request immediate access to digital content during the statutory cancellation period, you will be asked to expressly consent to the digital content being supplied immediately and to acknowledge that you will lose your statutory right to cancel once supply of that digital content begins.

Where the required consent and acknowledgement have been obtained and the download or supply has begun, you will normally no longer have a right to cancel simply because you have changed your mind.

This does not affect your legal rights where digital content is faulty, not as described, not of satisfactory quality or otherwise fails to meet applicable legal requirements.

⸻

6. Digital Product Refunds

Because our digital products are supplied electronically, refunds for change of mind will generally not be available once the digital content has begun to be supplied where you have given the legally required consent and acknowledgement.

However, please contact us if:

  • You have been charged more than once for the same product;
  • You cannot access the product because of a fault on our part;
  • You have received the incorrect product;
  • The digital content is materially different from its description; or
  • You believe you are otherwise entitled to a remedy under applicable consumer law.

Nothing in this section limits your statutory consumer rights.

CV & Cover Letter Writing Services

7. How Our Writing Services Work

Our CV and cover letter services are done-for-you professional writing services.

After ordering, you may be asked to complete an information form and/or provide documents including your:

  • Existing CV;
  • Employment history;
  • Education;
  • Qualifications;
  • Skills;
  • Career achievements;
  • Target roles;
  • Career goals;
  • Contact information; and
  • Any other information reasonably required to complete the service.

We use the information supplied by you to prepare your documents.

The quality and accuracy of the completed document depend partly upon the quality and accuracy of the information you provide.

⸻

8. Customer Responsibility for Information

You are responsible for ensuring that all information supplied to us is accurate and truthful.

We will not knowingly fabricate:

  • Qualifications;
  • Employment;
  • Job titles;
  • Professional memberships;
  • Skills;
  • Achievements; or
  • Other material facts.

We may professionally rewrite, restructure and present information supplied by you, but responsibility for confirming the factual accuracy of the final document remains with you.

You must review your completed document before using or submitting it to an employer or other third party.

⸻

9. Turnaround Times

The estimated turnaround time displayed when ordering begins once we have received:

  1. Successful payment; and
  2. All information reasonably required to begin your order.

Unless otherwise stated on the relevant product page, our standard target turnaround is approximately 2–3 business days.

Where an Express Service is purchased, the target turnaround may be approximately 24 hours, where advertised.

Business days normally mean Monday to Friday, excluding UK bank holidays.

Turnaround times are estimates rather than guaranteed deadlines unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.

A delay caused by incomplete information, unanswered questions, requested changes to the original brief or circumstances outside our reasonable control may extend the delivery time.

⸻

10. Revisions

Where unlimited revisions are advertised as part of a CV or cover letter service, we will provide reasonable revisions to help ensure that the completed document reflects the information and original requirements supplied by the customer.

Unlimited revisions do not mean an unlimited entitlement to:

  • Completely new documents;
  • Documents for entirely different careers or industries;
  • Rewriting based on substantially different information supplied after completion;
  • Multiple versions aimed at unrelated positions;
  • Repeated changes that contradict previously approved changes; or
  • Requests unrelated to the product originally purchased.

Where a request falls outside the original order, we may offer to complete the additional work for a separate fee.

Revisions must relate to the original customer’s document and may not be transferred to another person.

⸻

11. Customer Delays

If we require further information to complete your order, we may contact you using the details supplied when ordering.

We are not responsible for delays caused by a customer failing to:

  • Submit the required information;
  • Respond to questions;
  • Provide requested documents; or
  • Confirm unclear or conflicting information.

Any stated turnaround period may be paused until the information required to continue has been received.

⸻

12. Cancellation of Writing Services

Writing services are personalised services which may begin shortly after an order is placed.

Where applicable, UK consumers normally have statutory cancellation rights for distance service contracts.

If you specifically request that we begin providing the service during the statutory cancellation period and later cancel before the service has been fully performed, you may be required to pay for the proportion of the service already completed where permitted by law.

Where:

  • You expressly request that the service begins during the cancellation period;
  • The service is fully performed; and
  • You have acknowledged that you will lose your cancellation right once the contract has been fully performed,

your statutory cancellation right may end once the service has been completed.

Nothing in these Terms removes any cancellation or refund rights that cannot legally be excluded.

⸻

13. Quality of Our Writing Services

We will perform our professional writing services with reasonable care and skill.

If you believe we have made an error or the delivered service does not reasonably match what you purchased, please contact us so we can investigate and, where appropriate:

  • Correct the document;
  • Repeat part of the service;
  • Provide an appropriate revision; or
  • Provide another remedy required by applicable law.

⸻

Career Outcomes

14. No Guarantee of Employment

The Career Library aims to improve the quality, clarity and professional presentation of your career documents.

However, we cannot guarantee:

  • Employment;
  • Job interviews;
  • Job offers;
  • Salary increases;
  • Promotions;
  • Admission to a particular organisation;
  • Applicant Tracking System rankings;
  • A particular response from an employer; or
  • Any specific career outcome.

Recruitment decisions are made entirely by employers and other third parties and depend upon many factors outside our control.

Statements regarding ATS-friendly documents mean that we design documents with commonly accepted Applicant Tracking System principles in mind. They do not guarantee that a document will pass every ATS platform or achieve a particular ranking.

⸻

15. Career Information and Advice

Our eBooks, guides and services are designed for educational, informational and career-development purposes.

They do not constitute legal, financial or regulated professional advice.

Career and recruitment practices can vary between employers, industries, locations and individual circumstances.

You remain responsible for decisions made using information contained in our products.

⸻

Payments & Orders

16. Prices

Prices are displayed on our website in the currency stated at checkout.

The final price payable will be shown before you submit your order.

Promotional pricing, discounts and offers may be changed or withdrawn at any time before an order has been placed.

Once an order has been accepted, subsequent changes in price will not affect that order.

⸻

17. Payment

Payment must be successfully completed before digital products are released or work begins on a writing service unless we expressly agree otherwise.

Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers.

We do not directly control the systems of third-party payment processors and their own terms and privacy practices may apply.

⸻

18. Order Acceptance

Submitting payment does not necessarily mean that we have accepted an order.

An order is accepted when we confirm the order or begin providing the purchased digital content or service.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order where reasonably necessary, including where:

  • A pricing or listing error has occurred;
  • Payment has not been authorised;
  • Fraud or misuse is suspected;
  • The service requested falls outside what we offer;
  • Abusive or threatening behaviour occurs; or
  • Fulfilling the order would require us to produce misleading, fraudulent or unlawful material.

Where we cancel an order before supplying the product or service, any applicable payment will be refunded.

⸻

19. Discount Codes and Promotions

Discount codes:

  • Must be used before their expiry date;
  • May be limited to specified products;
  • May not be combined unless expressly stated;
  • Have no cash value; and
  • May be withdrawn where fraud, technical errors or misuse occurs.

We may introduce, amend or end promotional offers at any time, subject to orders already validly placed.

⸻

20. Ownership of The Career Library Products

Unless expressly stated otherwise, all intellectual property rights in our:

  • eBooks;

  • Templates;
  • Website content;
  • Graphics;
  • Branding;
  • Written material;
  • Product descriptions;
  • Educational materials; and
  • Other original content

belong to The Career Library or the relevant rights holder.

Purchasing a digital product gives you a personal licence to use it. It does not transfer ownership of our intellectual property to you.

⸻

21. Permitted Use of eBooks and Digital Products

Digital products purchased from The Career Library are for your personal use only, unless we expressly grant a different licence.

You may download and store your purchased copy for your own use.

  • Sell modified versions;
  • Share download links publicly;
  • Use our content to create competing commercial products; or
  • Remove copyright or ownership notices.

Unauthorised copying or distribution may infringe our intellectual property rights.

⸻

22. CVs and Cover Letters Produced for Customers

Once the applicable fee has been paid, you may use the final CV or cover letter prepared specifically for you for your own career and job-application purposes.

You may edit, reproduce and send your completed personal career documents to prospective employers and recruiters as required.

The underlying writing systems, templates, proprietary resources, processes, general designs and other intellectual property used to create those documents remain the property of The Career Library where applicable.

⸻

Lifetime Access & Updates

23. Product Updates

Where a product is advertised as including future or lifetime updates, this means that eligible customers may receive updated editions of that same product at no additional product charge while that update programme and product remain supported by The Career Library.

“Lifetime” refers to the supported commercial lifetime of the relevant product or service and does not guarantee that The Career Library, its website, a particular download system or any individual product will operate indefinitely.

We do not guarantee a particular frequency or number of updates unless expressly stated.

⸻

Privacy & Customer Information

24. Personal Information

We take the privacy of customer information seriously.

Information supplied for CV and cover letter services will only be used where reasonably necessary to:

  • Process your order;
  • Prepare your documents;
  • Communicate with you;
  • Provide revisions;
  • Resolve customer-service issues; and
  • Meet applicable legal obligations.

Our handling of personal information is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

⸻

25. CV and Career Information

CV writing can require customers to provide personal information concerning their employment, education and career history.

Customers should only provide information reasonably necessary for us to perform the service.

Documents and career information supplied specifically for the preparation of a CV or cover letter will not be sold to third parties.

We will securely delete or destroy working copies of customer CVs and career information when they are no longer reasonably required to complete the service, revisions, resolve an active dispute or comply with a legal obligation, in accordance with our applicable retention procedures.

Customers should retain their own copies of completed documents. We cannot guarantee that copies will remain available from us after our applicable deletion period.

⸻

26. Information We May Need to Retain

Deletion of CV-working information does not necessarily mean that every record associated with an order can be immediately deleted.

We may need to retain limited information including:

  • Order numbers;
  • Transaction records;
  • Payment records;
  • Invoices;
  • Customer-service correspondence;
  • Records required for accounting, taxation, fraud prevention, dispute resolution or legal compliance.

Such information will only be retained for as long as reasonably necessary or legally required.

⸻

27. Third-Party Services

Our website may use third-party providers to operate services such as:

  • Website hosting;
  • Shopify or other ecommerce systems;
  • Payment processing;
  • Forms;
  • Email delivery;
  • Cloud infrastructure; and
  • Analytics.

These providers may process information in accordance with their own terms and privacy obligations.

Further information should be provided in our Privacy Policy where required.

⸻

Website Use

28. Website Availability

We aim to keep our website and digital services available, but continuous uninterrupted access cannot be guaranteed.

We may temporarily suspend or restrict access for:

  • Maintenance;
  • Security;
  • Technical problems;
  • System upgrades; or
  • Circumstances outside our reasonable control.

We will not be responsible for temporary interruptions that are reasonably outside our control, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

⸻

29. External Links

Our website or digital products may contain links to third-party websites or services.

These links are provided for convenience or informational purposes.

We do not control third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, availability, security or privacy practices.

⸻

Liability

30. Our Responsibility to You

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence;
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
  • Any consumer rights or other liability which cannot legally be excluded or restricted.

Subject to those protections, we are not responsible for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control or for career outcomes that depend upon decisions made by employers, recruiters or other third parties.

If you are purchasing as a consumer, these Terms do not affect your statutory rights.

⸻

31. Business Use

Unless otherwise expressly agreed, our products are primarily supplied to individuals for personal career-development purposes.

If you purchase a product wholly or mainly for business purposes, different legal rights may apply.

⸻

Conduct

32. Misuse of Our Services

You must not use our website, products or services:

  • For unlawful purposes;
  • To commit fraud;
  • To impersonate another person;
  • To submit materially false information to employers;
  • To infringe another person’s intellectual property;
  • To interfere with the operation of our website; or
  • To obtain, reproduce or distribute our products without permission.

We may suspend access or refuse further services where serious misuse occurs.

⸻

33. Communication and Behaviour

We will always aim to treat customers professionally and respectfully.

We expect the same treatment of our staff and representatives.

We reserve the right to restrict communication or refuse further non-statutory services where a customer engages in threatening, abusive, discriminatory or seriously inappropriate behaviour.

This does not affect any legal rights relating to an existing purchase.

⸻

Complaints

34. Complaints and Problems

If you are unhappy with a product or service, please contact us first so that we have an opportunity to resolve the issue.

Please include:

  • Your name;
  • Order number;

  • A clear explanation of the problem.

We aim to deal with customer concerns fairly and within a reasonable period.

⸻

General Terms

35. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally to reflect:

  • Changes to our products or services;
  • Changes to our business operations;
  • Changes in technology; or
  • Changes in applicable laws or regulations.

The Terms that applied when you placed your order will generally continue to govern that order.

The latest version will be published on our website with the date it was last updated.

⸻

36. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

⸻

37. No Waiver

If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, this does not mean that we have waived our right to enforce it later.

⸻

38. Transfer of Rights

You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms to another person without our consent where our consent is legally required.

We may transfer our rights and obligations as part of a legitimate business transfer, restructuring or sale, provided this does not reduce your legal rights.

⸻

39. Third-Party Rights

Unless expressly stated otherwise, these Terms are between you and The Career Library.

No other person has a right to enforce these Terms except where the law provides otherwise.

⸻

40. Governing Law
